Here's a thought or two that came from something I read quite a while ago ..... "You cannot make a long term change in behaviours without addressing the BELIEFS that underlie them. Those societies that that are now causing, and that have historically caused, the most upheaval in our world, are those societies that have focussed on BELIEFS. Most humans try to change things by focussing on BEHAVIOURS. They keep thinking they can make things better by 'doing something'. Therefore everyone is actively trying to figure out what they can do. The focus is on doing something rather than on Believing something. Radical forces within societies, both past and very much in the PRESENT, have always sought to change things by using the power of THOUGHT, not action, because they know that Thought produces Action. Get a person thinking a certain way and you get that person to Act a certain way. It is not easily done the other way around. Take killing, as we see it being done on a massive and barbaric scale in certain parts of the world today .... You can rarely get a person to go out and kill another person simply by telling him, or her, to do so. You have to give him, or her, a Reason. And "Reason" exists only in Thought. And Thought is always based on Belief. So, if you want to get one person to kill another, the fastest way to do that is to give him, or her, a Belief that supports the action, and can Sponsor it. And one of the most powerful "Aphrodisiacs" of the 'Belief system' is to convince someone that their action is based on the "Will of a "God" or an "Allah, or a "Jehova", or whatever name they wish to give to a Diety, and that they will be rewarded for doing it by their particular and chosen Diety. The world is facing enormous problems right now, and one of the surest ways to solve those problems is at the level of BELIEF. You cannot solve the problem at the level of Behaviour. Seek to change Beliefs not Behaviours. After one changes a Belief, the Behaviour will change by itself." So one can bomb the s---t out of a radical and barbaric group such as an Isis, or similar, until the cows come home, and one may be successful in clearing them out of one part of a country, or another. But there is little doubt that they will pop up somewhere else, just as long as they can continue to convince gullible recruits that their actions have a "divine" inspiration and that they have a "divine" calling. Because the more you kill them the more fuel you will be adding to their "propaganda fire" because that will increase their fervour towards that "martyrdom ideal" that they have been convinced about through their "Belief" system.
