If I had to guess, the ipad mini 2 (last year's model) at $300 (or the 32 GB variant at $350) seems to be right in the sweet spot. The iPad mini 3 is a non-starter except for people who need the 64GB capacity (I think Apple intends for it to be a placeholder only for the price point). The Air 2 is really nice and is the most insulated from the iPhone 6 plus cannibalization, but I think it's appeal at that price is fading from the mainstream (although we know the Air was consistently the biggest seller last product cycle). Apple just hasn't done much lately to justify the existence of larger iPad.
