IMHO, this is the problem for most asian culture. Their leaders think they can save their country with some "magic policy" and their people expect them to do so. They always fail to see that it is the individual who build the wealth and the government can only provide a stable and FAIR enviroment for ALL the citizen to compete. Until asia's collective conscience arrive to a new level, Asia will have more similar problems: government screw up their own economy. But as Tito from amat thread point out, they have at least one thing going for them: asian people are hard working people and soon or later their people will bail out their economy.
