jg... thanks for the note on day length. I still haven't taken the time to do any futher research, but, you are right. At the equator, there is exactly 12 hours daylight and 12 of night... I am an amateur astromomer myself (primarily general interest, telescope making, and observational stuff, but am interested in most scientific topics. I am a medical entomologist by trade and rec. my Ph.D. (biology/med. ent.) at the Univ. of Utah back in the early 70's. Good to hear from you, Mel

Mel and J.G.,

Thanks for the definitive answers on the equatorial day. I won't ask about the resultant force responsible for the variations in earth's orbital speed even though I know we're all curious about it.

Well after this week most mutual funds should be done with their year end capital gains distributions. With that behind them there should be a significant increase in money flowing into them and hence the market. Since Wall Street is pretty much done with launching any new IPOs until late January that should give the market a push to the upside in the coming month or so. There was a fairly intelligent article about this in last week's Barron's.

Yesterday in the early morning RAIN droppped $2 on pretty low volume and spent the rest of the day recouping thoise losses. I guess we will see shortly if the MGM opening is going to make any noise.

Regards,
Dennis
