"As for the darkness vs lights & electricity that illuminate our cities, perhaps "Pantheist" is a better word for Thomas Edison?" Sounds right! And I get the cute symbolism! He was a true rationalist. He did not just discard the ancient idea of a 'spirit' out of hand. He did myriad experiments trying to weigh corpses versus the living to see if their was a weight differential to represent some invisible substance. Of course, he found nothing. And of course, we find the process too contaminated to take seriously. But it shows his devotion to the Scientific method and to REASON. He used the equipment that he had to seek the TRUTH of things.
