To All: Bob Metcalfe writes that ADSL doesn't work. He's the same guy who last year predicted that the internet was headed for meltdown. And that Digital's AltaVista site could never keep up. Perhaps as a contrarian indicator... infoworld.com

Curlton: At this time I view the LU/ORCTF relationship, like the Westell/Fujitsu relationship. Lucent, Fujitsu, Nortel, etc are systems integrators. Netherlands' PTT Telecom wants Lucent to integrate Orckit's solution into their network and BT wants Fujitsu to integrate Westell's solution into their network. ...."Lucent sees ADSL access technology being integrated into a wide range of its data and access products," said Aart Strang, Lucent Technologies' account director for PTT Telecom. "By working with Orckit we can rapidly provide our customers with high-quality, integrated network solutions."... telechoice.com It's public information that Westell's ADSL technology is being built into Lucent's access equipment. I still haven't concluded that Orckit's ADSL technology is being built in Lucent's access equipment. Lucent isn't reselling the Orckit DSLAM device and their DLC system doesn't support the Orckit ADSL technology. This PTT wants an Orckit solution and Lucent wants to get it's foot in the door.... until later. PS. What does the short interest look like on Westell now?
