Going over DLJ report on semiconductors yesterday, I noticed they indicated SSTI has told them flash prices weak again and will affect their 4th quarter. They also said TXN weak Q due to DRAM despite strong DSP and communication chip business, VLSI has signaled in-line but sees weakness in march Q, LSI logic is cautious due to weak RISC workstation/server computing/settop boxes. Their is concern over ADI, EXAR, LLTC over asia, Q4 will be strong. SMOD weak due to dependence on CPQ which is slow to convert to build to order. Xilinx and Lattice will have flat Q's, PLD market excess inventory. Lattice lost a Korean distribution channel due to bankruptcy. Only positive comments on EMKR, CREE, SDLI, AATT, PEAKF, which are considered defensive value-oriented chip stocks.

Their focus list is AMD, NSM, XLNX, AATT, EGHT, CREE, EMKR, EXAR, ISSI, LSCC, PEAKF, SDLI, VLSI
