Direct result of more Government bungling. They took the big corporate farms lobby money and approved "Superfarms" where they jam 100,000 pigs into a single location and barn structure and then wonder why the pigs get diseases that spread like wildfire. Meanwhile they allow the big corporate farms to wipe out mom and pop farming across the States and now you are stuck with a poor supply of even poorer quality product.
Superfarms should be banned and meat production should be put back in the hands of farmers. They are doing the same thing with poultry and trouble is brewing there as well.

The PEDv issue was "last year"...

nbcnews.com

Prices peaked earlier this year and are now in steep decline, or back to normal, as the bulk of the supply takes only 60 to 90 days to be re-established. You should be seeing pork sausage prices back to where they were before, by now... and if you aren't, you need to shop more...

It is interesting to note where the problem originated... how and why it spread... and what they did to gain control over it so quickly... since they weren't induced into ignoring what they should do in order to be "political correct".
