Brazil ETFs Reel As Rousseff Win Dims Reform Hopes

The left-leaning Rousseff's victory on Sunday ended months of uncertainty and volatility. And it dashed hopes of a more business-friendly face at the helm of Latin America's biggest economy. Rousseff squeaked past pro-business opposition candidate Aecio Neves 52% to 48%.

"Hopes for reform to address Brazil's structural economic problems have been dimmed, if not dashed," said Craig Botham, an emerging markets economist for Schroders Investment Management, which manages $464.1 billion in global assets.

He added that any change under Rousseff is likely to come "only under extreme market duress" and to be less than is needed.
