"Fortunately Ronald Reagan invested the surplus from the Medicare and Social Security taxes in lower income tax rates for the wealthiest Americans - so there's no getting it back and Congress will have to focus on removing welfare for retired Americans in a sweeping change designed to restore our values. In the process many living on Social Security and Medicare will rediscover the benefits of hard work"

Unfortunately it is all gone plus expenses have risen far in excess of incomes. Thus we have had GWB's Ownership Society and now Obama's QE to infinity to ' help' the little guy out.. What to do goes back to my post earlier in this thread on Oct 7..Of course tax rate adjustments closer to the 1950's is implied.

Repeal Dodd Frank, reinstate Glass Steagall, get the fed out of micromanaging and put Congress back to work setting policy to incentivize real work again, investment here at home and rebuilding of our infrastructure. Maybe a return to the 1950's mindset is in order. Of course the overseerers of our new world order will never allow that indulging in such excesses that put even the Gilded Age and Roaring 20's to shame...

As to medicare it is out of control. If everybody lost 10 pounds, cut sugar and soda out of their diets and walked a half hour a day would take a huge chunk of the cost of healthcare out of the system. Fee for services is long outdated needsmassive overhaul..

The point here isn't whether this particular fee met Medicare guidelines; the point is that the fee-for-service model provides powerful incentives to pad bills or even commit fraud
