The once friendly terrain of New York, California, Obama's native state of Hawaii and adopted state of Illinois all now pose stiff challenges to Democrats who are determined to limit their losses next Tuesday

This is just nonsense. I am looking at polls that do not show Dems in trouble in those states. Many of the Dem senators who are in trouble this year are the ones who got elected in 2008........a Dem wave year thanks to Obama. Many of them were in red/purple states. They are the ones who are in trouble. For most of the year, we have been hearing this is a GOP wave year. However, the latest polls suggest its not quite the wave that the GOP had hoped for. Grimes is keeping it tight with McConnell in KY, the R majority leader in the Senate; Nunn may actually win in GA......a mostly red state that is starting to show a purple tinge to it.......but will lose in a probably runoff election in January; NC has become more purple/blue and probably will re elect their dem senator.

Why this may not be a GOP wave year is because governors who were elected in 2010...... a decidedly wave GOP year.......are experiencing some difficulties............Snyder in MI, Scott in FL, LaPage in ME, Walker in WI, Brownback in WI. In some ways, the governorships are more important that the senate races.
