No the economy didn't take a dive due to the war in Bosnia, and it didn't take a dive after the Iraq War either.. it took a dive in 2007/8 because the GSE's thought they were in Disneyland handing out Treasury dollars and implicit Government Guarantees with little or no oversight by the Treasury The Bush Administration and the Republicans tried unsuccessfully to get Barney Frank and the Democrats to acknowledge their concerns.. But, the Democrats continuously stated the GSE's were doing a great job, and didn't need further oversight from the Treasury.. Well, we know how that ended up.. Then when it all came crashing down in 2007. The Democrats suddenly decided to support tightening regulation on the GSE's and took credit for the idea.. They failed to mention that they were the ones that refused to even acknowledge a problem with the GSE's as the Bush Administration did starting in 2002, even after testimony of Alan Greenspan, etc. youtube.com PCSTEL
