You are the most argumentative asshole I've ever met.....wouldn't be so bad if you were sometimes right. Lots of people get the flu even after getting a shot. One of the reasons is that there are different strains of flu and they don't always get the right shot.

"Are you telling us you got the vaccine, and then got the flu?"

I did. 'way back. It hurt too, as in my arm ached for a few days. The flu was not a result of the shot; IIRC, the events were several months apart. Never had another one. Worked with flu patients every season for about 35 years. Caught the flu once; first season back after 6 years away from medicine.

"What makes you different from the rest of the human race?????"

My parents. They both had good immune systems.

Yes, that's happened in past years. Are you telling us you got the vaccine, and then got the flu??????

Describe the flu you got.... Stuff the pretend doctor questions.

What makes you different from the rest of the human race?????

I'm not. There are lots of different strains of flu and the vaccines are changed every year and are designed to attack strains that have been prevalent in the past few years. But the mix of flu strains changes all the time, so you may not be protected against a new or rare strain. For years, I've been exposed to kids and grandkids, both first hand and second hand (my wife is an ex-teacher) .. I figure I'll get exposed to every strain that's out there in a particular year and the flu vaccine won't protect me from all of them.

Besides, it's just the flu. If you're really old or something I guess it can be a serious threat but not to me.

Can you get the flu even though you had the flu shot?
.........
2. Flu virus strains change all the time and sometimes you'll get a strain of the flu that is resistant to the vaccine you've had. Likely, if you did have the flu, the vaccine was able to lessen the severity of the virus but not eliminate it.

The effectiveness of the vaccine during any given flu season depends on the health of the person who receives it and how well-matched the viruses in the vaccine are to the particular viruses circulating at the time.

In 2013 ... the World Health Organization recommended including the three following strains in vaccines for use in the northern hemisphere:
  • an A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus;
  • an A/Victoria/361/2011 (H3N2)-like virus;
  • a B/Wisconsin/1/2010-like virus (from the B/Yamagata lineage of viruses).
