Well it looks like Obama walks on water when compared to Bush's tenure:

*Started a senseless and costly war in Iraq
*worst recession since WW II
*could not find bin Laden
*Oil prices reached new highs
*increased the deficit after there were surpluses under Clinton
*the unemployment rate increased to over 9%
*job growth was anemic at best
*let NOLA drown
*let Israel bomb the shit out of Lebanon

Yeah, except for the fact they are misrepresentations of Bush's record. Just referring to your list --

* Started AND won a war with Iraq that costly but not senseless
* Prevented the recession, inarguably caused by idiotic policy that preceded his presidency, from turning into something worse.
* Could not find bin Laden but neutered him and his organization
* There was never a surplus under Clinton, but yes, preventing further attacks against the US did result in higher deficits. Still, nowhere near as high as Obama's first year in office
* Unemployment rate when Bush left office was 7.8% and Obama claimed the trillion dollar stimulus would keep it under 8%.
* Job growth was lousy after the recession started, but for the first 6-7 years it was fine.
* Handled NOLA impeccably
* Bush was not president of Israel.

When you boil it down, Bush's negatives were nowhere nearly as negative as Obama's positives.

Bush's positives, OTOH

* Saved millions -- probably 10s of millions -- in Africa, which he'll be forever remembered for;
* Created Medicare Part D, which Obama promptly destroyed
* Essentially won the war on terror in that he decimated al Qaeda
* Made the Clinton recession, accompanied by 9/11, a minor economic blip.
* Banned the hideous practice of Partial Birth Abortion
* Cut taxes
* Elevated the level of integrity in the White House back to pre-Clintonian levels
* Had the respect of world leaders, if if they opposed his policy
* Killed the Kyoto Treaty
* Disarmed Libya of its WMDs
* Removed Saddam and killed his sons, who were destined to rule Iraq with an iron hand for decades to come
* Saved thousands of lives in NOLA from the incompetent government of Blanco and Nagin.
* Did not destroy the best health care system in the entire world.

You the idea. The list is endless. Which is the reason Bush is so highly thought of compared to Obama today and the reason history will remember him as a fine president who was followed by an incompetent boob.
