"But you do what you do out of ignorance, not understanding that you're not helping people, you're making matters worse for them"
That is Ayn Rand fiction, and not very good, at that.

" let the Libertarians take over. This crap will be sorted out in nothing flat."

LMAO. No, Ayn Rand's bad fiction is civilization's worst nightmare.

"government fails miserably, year in, year out"..., to fail. The conservatives have been saying that since the day after SS passed, and have been trying to make it fail since 1981, but it's more resilient than you think.

"It is the classic doing the same things expecting different results."
I'm not looking for different results. I like these, but they need improving. Most hungry are fed, most homeless get help with shelter, whatever else, and, of course, the job-killing Obamacare heals the sick.
The 2 biggest anti-poverty programs in history are SS and Medicare. Why would I want different results? Even trickle down gave me the results I expected... epic fail.
If government had failed, the air would be dirty, raw sewage would be dumped in SF Bay like it was in '50, polluted rivers would be catching fire, blah, blah.
