That is a good chart of Energy use in America, by type and end-user.

"Energy Services" is productive use. "Rejected Energy" is the inefficiency, such as waste heat from a computer or unburnt fuel sent down the tailpipe to be burnt by the catalytic converter."

Rejected Energy" can never be eliminated, but it can be reduced. The largest inefficiencies are in oil use and electrical transmission. Waste from electrical generation is close to theoretical minimums.
