One major problem with assuming political trends will continue is that so often political fortunes turn 180 degrees due to factors not present in previous elections. The Great Communicator was an example of that. The Arab Liar in Chief is another example of it.

One thing that should concern people is that if Obama continues to be divisive the probability of a Republican single party government increases. Before long they will begin rewarding those who supported their rise to power. Millions of dollars of support are sometimes rewarded with billions of dollars of pork.

Nothing in Obama's past indicates that he is capable of restraining his divisiveness.

OTOH, even a bad Republican single party government cannot compare to the harm done by a democrat single party government. Never has any Republican government done a significant percentage of the harm inflicted by Obama with Pelosi and Reid's help.
