The end is starting..Two fifths of iPhone 6 owners already carrying damaged phones; 37% of new iPhone 6/6+ owners regret buying that low quality bug ridden bendable junk

A massive 42 per cent of iPhone 6 owners have already damaged their new handsets, if one survey is to be believed.

Despite the iPhone 5S follow-on having only launched last month, according to a new study carried out by VoucherCloud, two fifths of early iPhone 6 adopters may already be sporting damaged devices.

What’s more, 37 per cent of new iPhone owners could be regretting splashing out on Apple’s latest smartphone.

Having questioned 2174 British iPhone 6 owners, all over the age of 25, the study has shown that 42 per cent – that’s 913 people – have already suffered damaged devices.

In spite of the recent bendgate furore, overly flexed handsets was only the second most common cause for concern, affecting 48 per cent of those with damaged iPhones.

As you might expect, top of the list was cracked and scratched screens, accounting for 54 per cent of all problems. Participants in the poll were allowed to select more than one means of damage, but it's obviously impossible to know what degree of damage they were reporting – or how many of them bothered to buy protective cases.

Given the iPhone 6’s lack of Xperia Z3 mimicking protective coating, water damage (41 per cent) was also a high cause of early trouble. Damaged buttons (29 per cent) and software issues (18 per cent) were the other key causes of iPhone demise.

“The smartphones on offer today are packed with so much technological wizardry and functions that they are extremely delicate,” VoucherCloud’s Matthew Wood said.

“You almost wish you could cover them in bubble wrap to avoid any damage, as accidents can happen at any time and mobile phones really are a lifeline nowadays.”

He added: “With so much media buzz and frenzy surrounding these big tech launches, many people will race to be one of the first owners of a new handset, without giving it time to see what bugs and issues there might be.

“It’s always worth waiting that little bit longer to ensure you have made the right purchase than making a hasty decision and regretting it.”

This could be an issue affecting many iPhone 6 owners. The study has claimed that of the 37 per cent regretting their handset purchase, 39 per cent wish they’d plumped instead for the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The HTC One M8 and LG G3 were the other most highly regarded iPhone 6 alternatives.
