Well, occasionally when I buy things becasue they look good for the weeks or months ahead (cyclical, out of favor things)- wham, they spike up, faster than I expected. If I don't like the reason they go up, then I sell, sometimes that amounts to short term trading. And of course, same thing can happen on the down side.
