RENN is the closed end fund managed by Renaissance Capital. Ren Cap is very responsible investment fund that takes positions at early growth stages in companies that are at the point of going from development to commercialization. They incubate the companies if necessary, and normally take a cv pfd position so as to get paid to wait. Ren Cap has been in business since the early '70's. They are fully aware of the risks they take in investing in early stage growth, and need very big winners to offset the belly-ups. TPRO Contour Medical, and MaxServ have been very big winners for them in 1997. They've got a fistful of others that are struggling.
