Off topic, SCSI: Chaz, I shopped all over the net, even el cheapo ISA adaptec cards are $40. Probably pure PIO too, yuck. I found an NCR/Symbios 810 in Cal. for $49, PCI Busmastering, my old PC hardware consultant said 810-based cards were considered both good and a good buy; now they seem quite hard to find. The place also had a Symbios 875 fast/wide SCSI card for $106, this is presumably much the same as the Diamond Fire-whatever. I don't exactly understand why the world has standardized on $200+ Adaptec cards. That'd be almost as much as the CDR for me.

Locally, PC parts shopping sucks. I wanted to get a crummy IDE cable, and everybody wants $10! $1.40 mail order. Even CompUSA wants $10 in the store, it seems they have a mininum price for cables. A stupid 5ft Cat5 patch cable costs the same. Sheesh.

Cheers, Dan.
