You make the most sense of many of the people who post here. I feel personally that until the indexes stop flashing toppishness and new unseasoned investors are less complacent or more fearful, then I will jump back on the tech wagon. Becareful of falling in love with stocks. They are only pieces of paper...vehicles to enhance the growth/death of your money. Risk = reward. I thought I saw last night on CNBC that ORCL/MSFT/INTC/CSCO took something around $80 Billion out of the market (not absolutely sure of the number but 10 points on MSFT on 1.198 billion shares = 12 billion; 10 points on ORCL with 979 million shares =10 billion; CSCO down 10 from high = 6.7 billion; INTC with 1.6 billion down 30 from high = 48 billion)
People I know who work at ORCL aren't quite ready to buy that latest PII.

As I've stated before I own 3 Dell's, love'm, they are great and I tell everybody who is considering one to buy one. One time I had a problem with my first Pentium 75MHz. The technician came out the next day and gave me a 90 MHz because they were out of 75's. That's service. But I don't always equate great companies with great stocks at every point in time. I see dangerous cracks in the ice. If you want to go skating...be my guest.

I guess I'm just a social & investing Darwinist.

Do you feel you HAVE to own Dell right here right now?

That is my question.

Now on First Call as I write I see 32 brokers contributing to a consensus estimate for 1999 of 3.46. So where does the $9 estimate come from?

Let me repeat my earlier question again. How many AMAT/ORCL/JBIL/?/?/?/ holders are feeling flush enough to go out and buy that new PII box right now?

Most people I see walking around San Francisco, seem to be doing a lot of window shopping, not buying. Maybe that will change.

What will the impact of the $999 box have on incremental demand for the PII box. Then there's Web TV, have you factored that in? I'm just dubious when everyone discounts any possiblities other than a mere speed bump.

Since this is a pretty bullish thread, I feel obligated to at least mention the possibilities of uncertainty down the road.

Hope you make a ton of dough.

As usual I bid everyone a great day and
bon chance.

Jim

P.S. But I like the way your exercising your cerebral cortex!

Meathead,

Yes indeed. I sell other stuff, but hold onto DELL. Another 200% over next four years? Even if it is only another 100%, I don't see a better buy at this time. "Please, please, Br'er Hank, please don't throw me in that briar patch!" Guess that means I won't be able to sell in Jan 99 either, darn it. Bought calls today. Guess I'll go fishing.
