Clinton urges Congress to vote more funds for IMF>>>>
It is important that the United States do what it can to
support Asia through its economic crisis, President Bill Clinton said on Tuesday, urgingCongress to
approve more money for the International Monetary Fund.

Clinton told a news conference he was encouraged by South Korean steps to implement the
IMF's plan for South Korean economic recovery, and said the agency should take the lead in
international efforts to assist Asia.

Asked how Asia's crisis would affect the U.S. economy, Clinton said the economy was strong.
and new statistics showing low inflation and strong business investments ''show that we have
significant capacity to continue to grow from within.''

Clinton said financial aid to Asia should continue to be led by the IMF and other leading
institutions, but said ''we (the United States) should be there, along with Japan and other countries
in a supporting capacity if necessary.''
After appointing Bill Lann Lee in total defiance of the senate,
Clinton will get no help from anyone. This will be interesting, for sure.
