Yep, Caly is like the Swiss Army knife of technology - she can figure out and fix anything.

I'm trying not to say too much about last night's new episode of The Affair which uncovered more about the seedy underbelly of Montauk. It seemed different than other episodes, maybe more matter of fact. I'm curious what others thought.

We may soon be cableless, but we'll all be paying $100/month for Internet access to stream our content, and more money to the content streamers.

But hey, at least we won't be paying for stations we don't want. :)

Just to fill you in on my complete Comcast adventure...

When I took my DVR and two DTAs to the local Comcast office, the guy told me, "You could save $8 more a month if you bought your own cable modem, and stopped renting one from us." Off I went to Amazon, and bought my own. To activate it, though, I had to call their support line. Lo and behold, they had a promotion for me. They were were offering me an upgrade to their Blast! (higher speed) Internet service and basic cable TV service on one TV for $51/month. I couldn't say "no" to that as I was already paying $65/month for a lesser Internet service, which by the way, I didn't realize I'd been downgraded to at some point.

Of course my "promotional deal" didn't go without a hitch. When I got an email confirming my service change, my bill was to be $75/month. Bzzzzzzzzz. Another call to Comcast. The woman I spoke with said they'd honor the price I was quote the night before (how big of them), and remarkably didn't try to sell me something else. At least for that I was grateful.

Anyway, when I went to the Comcast office again to drop off their cable modem, I told the guy there of my woes the night before, and he confirmed the $51/month price and handed me the DTA. When I got home, I promptly installed the DTA on the TV in the basement which is non-HD and couldn't pull in my antenna signal without me buying a $30 HD tuner. They at least solved that problem for me...for now.

A year from now when this promotional deal is up, I'll be going through some rigmarole with them again.
