>>My premise is that zips aren't selling as well as they used to, and Iomega's shipments don't or didn't reflect this new reality. <<

Are you aware that this is exactly what certain bears were saying last year at this time? Another question is why distributors would accept shipments of product they don't expect to sell. If anyone knows what's moving, it's them.

Do you have any evidence to support this viewpoint that isn't anecdotal?

B.O.

As per my previous post, over 150 Zips in less than two weeks at CompUSA (Orlando). Restocked another pallet and its 1/3 gone. All types of Zips avail. (except int ATAPI) there. Bought an int SCSI myself today and while I was there at least ten others were buying also. When I checked out, the young lady that rang me up, said that these were really selling well. Very popular item.

A few Sparqs were avail, but alas, no disks were avail.

>> But yes, it will come out and Iomega will take a big hit.<<

Talking about a big hit, when 1st Q numbers come out, IOM stock will be crushed. The revenue dropoff will be even more dramatic than last year's 1st Q disappointment. For a such a "dramatically growing" company, these revenue dropoffs don't support such claims. If Zip were to really become the "standard," one would expect Zip shipments to double every couple of months regardless of what Q it is-- this has not happened.

I said the same thing last year, and while the number of Zips sold has increased, the numbers in no way reflect assertions that Zip will replace the 1.44 floppy. In fact, Zip sales have roughly doubled in one year. Now, 5% of new computers ship with Zip installed instead of just 2%. What a dramatic increase--not. Add to this the fact that the Zip's product life cycle is coming to a rapid close, and you have a recipe for IOM stock collapse soon followed by inevitable shareholder lawsuits against KE and Iomega Corp.

Seems like my warnings last year have turned out to be true after all.
