Infrastructure projects from telecom, highways ports and railroad are positive long term project if a country can afford it, and not only Germany. One great solution would be more "bullet trains" and proper rails to remove the need for air travel which is highly inefficient for distances below 800 KM - or a flight time of 1 hour. Today bullet trains can cover this in about 3 hours or about the same time it takes from midtown to the airport to check in to fly to check out and take transportation to the destination midtown.
