Does it really? Or you can spend billions building a new Bay Bridge then still need to have to spend millions because the f*cking birds are laying eggs on the old bridge. It is just ignorant.

The environment has changed. If they can't adapt, it is time for them to go.

Muslim Terrorists Slaughter Four Jews at Synagogue with a Gun, Ax and Meat Cleaver (Video)

by Jim Hoft on Tuesday, November 18, 2014,

Muslim terrorists screaming “Allahu Akbar” slaughtered four Jews Tuesday in Jerusalem.

The Islamists were carrying a gun, ax and meat cleaver.

The Times of Israel reported:

Four people were killed in a terror attack at a synagogue in a Jerusalem neighborhood Tuesday morning.

Police said two attackers from East Jerusalem entered the synagogue in the Har Nof neighborhood at 7 a.m. and began attacking worshipers at morning prayers with a gun, a meat cleaver, and an ax.

Both terrorists were killed by police within seven minutes.

Israel Police said there were six injured, including two policemen, one of whom was seriously injured, and another moderately hurt.

A man who prays at the synagogue told The Times of Israel that one of the victims was American, and another British. That report was not immediately confirmed.

The attack occurred at the Kehilat Yaakov synagogue, located in a religious institution which includes a study hall.

One of the worshipers said the two terrorists shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack, and entered the synagogue without their faces covered.

World's Largest Solar Plant Failing
.........................................................
Huge solar plant lags in early production

By MICHAEL R. BLOOD Associated Press
Nov 17, 2:014
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_WORLDS_LARGEST_SOLAR_PLANT?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2014-11-17-14-33-47

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The largest solar power plant of its type in the world - once promoted as a turning point in green energy - isn't producing as much energy as planned.

One of the reasons is as basic as it gets: The sun isn't shining as much as expected.

Sprawling across roughly 5 square miles of federal desert near the California-Nevada border, the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System opened in February, with operators saying it would produce enough electricity to power a city of 140,000 homes.

So far, however, the plant is producing about half of its expected annual output for 2014, according to calculations by the California Energy Commission.

It had been projected to produce its full capacity for 8 hours a day, on average.

"Factors such as clouds, jet contrails and weather have had a greater impact on the plant than the owners anticipated," the agency said in a statement.

It could take until 2018 for the plant backed by $1.6 billion in federal loan guarantees to hit its annual peak target, said NRG Energy Inc., which operates the plant and co-owns it with Google Inc. and BrightSource Energy.

"During startup we have experienced ... equipment challenges, typical with any new technology, combined with irregular weather patterns," NRG spokesman Jeff Holland said in a statement. "We are confident that Ivanpah's long-term generation projections will meet expectations."

The technology used at Ivanpah is different than the familiar photovoltaic panels commonly used for rooftop solar installations. The plant's solar-thermal system - sometimes called concentrated-solar thermal - relies on nearly 350,000 computer-controlled mirrors at the site, each the size of a garage door.

The mirrors reflect sunlight to boilers atop 459-foot towers - each taller than the Statue of Liberty. The resulting steam drives turbines to create electricity.

When the $2.2 billion complex opened, Energy Department Secretary Ernest Moniz called it a "symbol of the exciting progress" in renewable energy.

While the agency still says the project remains in good standing, Kaitlin Meese, an analyst at research firm Bentek Energy, said its early production figures "do not paint a strong picture for solar-thermal technology development."

The operation of such plants is highly dependent on weather conditions, and predicting when and how strongly the sun will shine is not a perfect science.

A little bit of inefficiency with mirrors can translate into a loss of power output ranging from small to significant, said Dr. Neil Fromer, executive director of the Resnick Sustainability Institute at the California Institute of Technology.

Problems could include getting the thousands of mirrors pointed in precisely the right direction, especially in the cool early morning, or keeping them clean in the dusty Mojave Desert.

Operators initially expected to need steam from gas-powered boilers for an hour a day during startup. After operations began, they found they needed to keep boilers running more than four times longer - an average of 4 1/2 hours a day.

State energy regulators in August approved the plant's request to increase the natural gas it is allowed to burn by 60 percent.

Additional natural gas could also be needed to operate boilers when clouds thicken or to maintain output at the end of the day and extend the capability for power production, the company said.

"Because the plant requires sunlight to heat water and turn it to steam, anything that reduces the sunlight will affect steam conditions, which could damage equipment and potentially cause unsafe conditions," said the commission, which approved the request for increased gas use.

Fromer said it was surprising that so much additional gas is needed, adding that it "signals to me they have some very large problems that they are going to need to sort out."

Plants owners said they are learning on the fly to some extent.

"For some aspects of operation, the only way to fully understand how the systems work has been through the experience of operating," plant owners wrote in the request to increase gas use.

Holland said the company always expected a ramp-up period of four years to reach maximum output. That extended period was not publicly disclosed, however. Holland said it is outlined in confidential agreements with two California utilities buying the power, Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas and Electric Co.

Brightsource said on its website that the weather has generally been substantially worse than historical averages - in other words, cloudy - resulting in reduced output in certain months.

"We remain confident that over time the sun at Ivanpah will be more than sufficient for the plant to meet its expected performance targets," the statement said.

Will Ferguson race riots help Obama?

...................................................................................
The Washington Times ^ | November 18, 2014 | Ernest Istook

A race riot could erupt in Ferguson, Missouri, any day.

President Barack Obama and Attorney-General Eric Holder should be utilizing tools like the federal Anti-Riot Act. Instead, they’re stoking the flames.

For Mr. Obama, riots could be a convenient distraction from two major furors: 1) Executive amnesty for illegal immigrants, and 2) Dr. Jonathan Gruber’s role as a paid flack to deceive the country about Obamacare.

The national media are primed and ready to help shift attention. Liberal outlets are “begging” for riots.

Riots divert media from covering things that embarrass the president. Those are things that liberal media don’t want to cover anyway.

Rather than discouraging the out-of-town agitators who have stayed in Ferguson since August, Mr. Obama has shown sympathy for their cause. The agitators want a murder indictment of Ferguson policeman Darren Wilson for the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Michael Brown.

The grand jury reportedly heard testimony describing how the 6-foot-4, 292-pound Brown attacked Mr. Wilson, fractured his eye socket, tried to steal his gun, then charged at the officer again.

The mobs in Ferguson see it differently; they side with Brown’s father who insists the police officer be indicted for murder.

Agitators have released protest target lists of dozens of places in the St. Louis area, presuming that Mr. Wilson will not be indicted. An advance state of emergency has been declared by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, and he also activated the National Guard to prepare to respond to riots.

Much of the agitation has come from out-of-state troublemakers, including self-identified anarchists and Marxists. They’re the reason we have a federal Anti-Riot Act. But it has not been invoked. It has not been used to investigate the instigators. It has not even been used to sound a warning to them. Not even after more than 100 Ferguson businesses have already been looted.

“Rioting and looting are the tools of those without a voice,” said Rockit Ali, a masked Ferguson protest organizer, speaking to Reuters news service. “There is no revolution without violence.”

Ferguson protestors met with Mr. Obama last week in an unpublicized private White House meeting?, as reported by The New York Times?. Others in the meeting were not identified, but Al Sharpton said Mr. Obama told them to “stay the course.”

Jew Attacked by Arabs with Iron Bars in Jerusalem
.............................................................................................
Arutz Sheva ^ | 18/11/14 | Uzi Baruch & Ari Yashar

Just hours after four Jews were murdered praying at a synagogue in Jerusalem's Har Nof, a young Jew in his 20s was attacked by two Arab assailants armed with iron bars in Jerusalem's Old City on Tuesday night.

The attack took place at the Old City's New Gate, located in the north-western corner of the Old City and not far from the Jerusalem Municipality building.

The two Arab attackers fell upon their victim as he was riding a bicycle, hitting him with iron bars and leaving him moderately wounded.

The youth was treated on the scene by Magen David Adom (MDA) medics and evacuated to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in the capital.

Police are searching for the two attackers, who fled from the scene of the crime.

Arab violence likewise continued unabated elsewhere in Jerusalem on Tuesday night, as dozens of masked Arab rioters hurled rocks and shot fireworks at Border Patrol forces and police forces in the Jabel Mukabar neighborhood where the two terrorists who conducted the morning's attack hailed from.

The rioters set tires and garbage bins on fire; security forces responded by using riot dispersal methods.

It should be noted that the IDF recently gave new orders allowing officers to open fire on Arab rioters who shoot potentially lethal fireworks at them. In this case, officers did not open fire to respond to the attack.

The danger of the weapon was illustrated on Monday, when an officer lost two fingers from a firework attack.

Earlier in Jabel Mukabar police set concrete blocks to close off the entrance to the neighborhood in an attempt to control the volatile district, even as the family of the two terrorists celebrated...

Five Jews Murdered In Jerusalem Terror Attack
.........................................................................................
Israel News Agency ^ | November 18, 2014 | Joel Leyden

UPDATED … Jerusalem, Israel — November 18 … In a well planned terrorist attack this morning, two Islamic terrorists, one with a pistol and another with an axe and knife entered a synagogue in the Har Nof area of Jerusalem.

The first Jewish victim wearing Tallis and Tephillin was shot in the head.
The terrorists then ran into various prayer rooms and a Beit Medrash.

A paramedic trying to deal with the wounded was shot in the leg before two policemen shot two of the terrorists dead.

A search is presently being conducted for their driver and a possible third attacker.

The number of casualties at present is five dead, with one in serious condition and three in critical both from stabbings and shooting on some.

The dead have been identified as Rabbi Aryeh Kopinsky, 43, Rabbi Shmuel Goldberg, 58, Rabbi Calman Levine and Rabbi Moshe Twersky, 59.

Zaidan Sayyaf, an Israeli police officer who was wounded in this morning’s terrorist attack, has succumbed to his wounds.

The 27 year old officer (Druze) was one of the first to respond to the scene in the synagogue this morning, helping to stop the terrorists before they could murder any more civilians.
He is survived by his wife and four month old daughter.

Thousands of people attended a joint funeral for Kupinsky, Levine and Goldberg before sundown — held outside the synagogue where the attack occurred during morning prayers.

The Israeli government announced measures to increase the city’s already heightened security.
Schools and other educational institutions were ordered to ramp up their security.
Most schools already have armed guards stationed at their entrance because of earlier attacks.

Speaking to journalists at the scene, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat expressed shock at the brutality of the attack.
“To slaughter innocent people while they pray … it’s insane,” he said.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said the terror attack was “a pure result of incitement”.
In an emotional statement in London, Kerry added: “Innocent people who had come to worship died in the sanctuary of a synagogue. They were hatcheted, hacked and murdered in that holy place in an act of pure terror and senseless brutality and murder.”

“This is the direct result of incitement being led by Hamas and Abu Mazen, incitement which the international community is irresponsibly ignoring,” said Prime Minister Netanyahu.

“We will respond with a heavy hand to the brutal murder of Jews who came to pray and were met by reprehensible murderers.”

The Incredible Shrinking President
...........................................................................
Townhall.com ^ | November 18, 2014 | Bill Murchison

For two more years, two very long and, I'm afraid, discombobulating years, the United States is to be served by a president with the emotional maturity of -- shall we guess? A 12-year-old determined to be noticed by everyone in the room? Maybe.

Barack Obama doesn't care that his political party lost the election. He doesn't care that his signature achievement -- Obamacare -- earns a disapproval rating of 56 percent in the latest Gallup Poll. He's going to overhaul immigration policy by presidential decree while pushing his own ideas on climate change, in conjunction with the Chinese. He won't commit to the Keystone pipeline.

What are we going to do? Impeach him? Send him to bed without his supper? One can't think of an approach likely to influence the conduct of the most self-fixated chief executive in American history. Obama hears nothing he chooses not to hear, believes nothing corrosive to his self-image of brainy dexterity.

The best we can do, maybe, is ignore him. Don't laugh -- it may happen.

The "most powerful man in the world," as journalists like to call America's maximum leader -- whether he actually leads -- is a figure hard to ignore: all the harder when he sets out to govern by edict and sheer cussedness. Note this, nonetheless: The political system already is looking past him, wondering who will take over the job in 2017. Hillary? Jeb Bush? Do I hear Mitt Romney?

Nearly all the air has leaked from the Obama enterprise -- the calculation that an unknown Illinois senator would bury the partisan hostilities of the previous two decades and do wondrous, formerly unimaginable things for America.

Ain't gonna happen. Wasn't ever likely to, for all the tall tales the candidate told about himself and his aspirations. The Obama presidency, with two years still to run, has the look of a spent force. No one can dare to say it's over, but it surely looks that way.

Picking up the pieces from varied international bunglings and from scorn for sound, job-creating economics won't make 2017-21 a walk in the park; but, then, that merely strengthens the case for ignoring the policies and ideas that were Obama's calling cards.

See any likelihood that government-controlled health care will be a rallying point for Democratic presidential candidates? The larger reality is that these same Democrats, seeking to avoid extinction, will have to promise at least minimal attention to the job of fixing ObamaCare's failings.

Obama's pleas to keep his political baby out of the hands of Child Protective Services won't wash in most settings. Democratic senatorial candidates during the last political cycle scampered away from a president the public had come to distrust -- as the polls regularly indicated. Lacking a Democratic majority in either house of Congress, what can Obama do for political redemption? Wave his scepter like Nero and bid the nation listen to him? It appears he means to try, as with immigration reform. Trying nevertheless isn't the same as succeeding. Our president, for all his power, looks more like an irrelevance than ever before.

Such condition can't be healthy for a country menaced by foreign enemies and punching below its weight, economically speaking. Great dangers arise in the kind of political vacuum over which our president presides; that is, if you call it presiding.

There is opportunity in the moment, even so -- opportunity that comes with the overdue chance to quit putting one Barack H. Obama and his rhetoric at the center of American plans and dreams and calculations, and to start figuring out what policies can be made actually to work.

The opportunity holds more promise yet -- that of figuring out which presidential candidates, Democratic or Republican, seem likeliest to make the tiller of state stop spinning.

Onward to January. That's when the process really gets going. That's when the tiny if powerful -- just ask him -- figure of an immature and petulant president, occupying temporarily the chair of Washington, Lincoln and Reagan, begins shrinking to its proper size.

Former Charlotte Democratic Mayor Patrick Cannon enters West Virginia prison
charolleteobserver.com ^ | Nov. 18, 2014 | Michael Gordon

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. Former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon traded jeans and a light brown sweater for a khaki green prison uniform – and a once promising political career for a serial number on Tuesday.

At his sentencing last month on bribery and theft charges., his attorneys asked a federal judge to allow the felon to spend his birthday and the coming holidays with his wife and children in Charlotte.

Instead, Cannon kicked off his 44-month sentence just before noon Tuesday.

Cannon entered prison when he stepped out of a black SUV in front of Federal Correctional Institution Morgantown and checked in with the guards. He was taken by truck to a building on the backside of the prison camp.
