So two new genes, nylA and nylB, were created by reproduction?

I don't know when or how they first appeared, but what makes you think they are new? There are lots of polymers which get produced by very ordinary and natural processes. For all I know some variation of bacteria which ate spider silk was able to digest nylon and they multiplied when that "food source" became more plentiful. (That is another 'just-so story' . I haven't studied nylon eating bacteria).
