I think they're taking steps to move beyond that at this point. If you have the Walmart app, you scan the receipt when you leave the store. They examine all advertised pricing in your area and send you a credit for the difference.

So, if you buy a six pack of cokes for $2.99 and some other store has it for $1.99, they send you $1.00 per six pack back in the form of a credit that you can use at the register. It does take three days but it is an excellent program. As I think I mentioned earlier, my wife got back $30 last week. In our small town they compare with 54 stores. I didn't even know we HAD 54 stores. Places I've never even heard of.

They are currently running a trial where they also include Amazon on the list of price comparisons (not available here at this this time; only in some limited areas).

It isn't the SAME as adjusting the price generally, but starts to approach that idea.
