Metcalf's track record as a seer is not good... he identifies potential problems correctly but underestimates the ability to solve them. However, I do remember something about crosstalk being a potential problem with ADSL - wasn't that the reason PacBell or one of the other RBOCs banned an ISP from leasing burgler alarm circuits and fitting them with ADSL modems? Many believed there was no crosstalk problem, just the RBOC not wanting someone else to offer ADSL first.
Perhaps Metcalf is beating a dead horse here, but has the crosstalk issue been put to bed?
