There are two ways retailers test the market. Either having a sale first to raise some cash, or discount later to recover lost sales. Last year for most store they choose the later and had a bad year. This year every one that I know had a sale or two or three, first. Now the prices are firmed up until X'mas. Last minute shoppers had to pay through the nose. Stores already are cash, a plenty. One afternoon an armoured truck pulled up to AMES Natick, to collect the take. Nothing pleases a stockholder more to see that.
