It's early in the season and its a long season. Every team will have its clunkers. But the surprise team in the league is the NY Islanders and to a lesser extent the Calgary Flames. The Isles are the real deal. Victories over Anaheim, LA, San Jose, the Rags and a sweep of the Pens speaks volumes. The additions of Boychuk, Leddy, Halak, Kulemin and Grabowski have been huge. First round picks Nelson and Strome have become stars. The Isles are no longer a Tavaras centric team. Whether this all translates into a Cup or an Eastern Conference championship is way to early to tell. But its nice to dream and have high expectations. That is what keeps one young.
The Rags cannot be dismissed. I just expect an early first round exit.
Tonight the Isles play another team that has eaten their lunch over the years, the Flyers.
