EGPWS - GPS based?

Actually, I am still trying to figure out whether GPS is a requirement or not. It is not necessary, because Allied Signals EGPWS has been tested with INS.

However, the dollar numbers being floated around ($100,000 per aircraft) are likely to include GPS.

Allied Signal got $20 million for adding EGPWS to about 650 American Airline aircrafts. that only works out to about $30,000 per plane. Remember that it cost $45 million for American to equip their planes with GPS.
