Where it moves right now while we are in limbo does not matter much. Where will it be when they get their act together and apply for the Nasdaq National listing and hire a pr firm and release earnings is the question. It will all unfold in the near future. MARION - Marion Composites formerly known as Brunswick Composites, has reached an agreement with The Boeing Co. in Long Beach, Calif. to fabricate 80 shipsets of nose and tail radomes for the C-17 aircraft. Radomes are aerodynamic radar equipment covers. They are designed as honeyconb sandwich composite structures with a high strength-to-weight ratio. The program, a follow-up or continuation of an existing agreement, is divided into six lots, running through February 2004, with a total contract potential of more than $7 million. Jim Lossee, Vice President for business and technology for Marion Composites, said the contract will not mean any new jobs at the plant for the foreseeable future. "Since it's a continuation, the jobs are more secure," Lossee said. The company has three major, multi-year/multi-lot C-17 program commitments with Boeing. The other two programs are for winglets and landing gear doors and flap leading edges and trailing edges. The three combined C-17 programs have a production potential of $100 million over the next six years. Marion Composites is the "sole source" of the radomes for the C-17, Lossee said. The Company, a division of Atlanta-based Advanced Technical Products, employs just over 500 people. Marion Composites produces a variety of aerospace composite structures, shelters and relocatable hospitals. It is the world's leading manufacturer and designer of radomes for high-performance jet aircraft.
