I think that the KMR holders only get the stock deal no cash.and the KMP holders get the mixed choice. I have KMP and when the deal was announce it was stated that KMP holders got the mixed offer of some cash and mostly stock. I think that was because a lot of the KMP holder were going to owe taxes so that the mixed option would give them maybe enough cash to cover taxes. However when I had to give orders to my broker I was offered all three choices for KMP and I chose the all stock deal as it was a better deal by about 1 dollar per share. If you don't give orders you get the mixed distribution by default. With the current prices it is much better to take the all stock option.

Well, it's too late to do anything at this point anyway, but here's the scoop: KMP holders had the choice to get the 2.48... (all KMI shares option) Or, 2.1... shares plus $10-something in cash (mixed option) Or, $91-something in cash (prorated) -- the all cash option KMR holders only get one option: 2.48-something shares per KMR share. The best deal for KMP holders (in hindsight) would have been the all KMI shares option... still a taxable event, but max return vs. the other two options as long as KMI closed above $36.91, which it did by a good bit. Yesterday was the "official" date and I believe the KMI shares and cash hit tomorrow (or whenever your broker gets around to it after tomorrow).
