John, that "Large number of Posters" on Yahoo CTEC has fallen to be "MKC and Me"-- Is this a strongly positive indicator? <g> Meanwhile we get good Real World info by talking to the folks on the Yahoo, including the following, from "MKC": " By: M_K_C Date: Dec 16 1997 7:23 P.M Reply To: Msg. 37 by OLE_dlo DLO, the anwswers to your questions are: Yes, I purchased Cholestech stock back in June (lucky me). I bought it shortly after I realized that Cholestech was a public company. We started using the machines in April. We use all the Cholestech panel options at work. They have a fairly lengthy expiration date so we keep them available. Clients request the tests that they want. The most popular one in our regular weekly screening is the Lipid panel with Glucose. However, when we do mass screenings where people haven't fasted, we may choose to use the Total Cholesterol with HDL (TC/HDL) packet or just the TC. Usually in the mass screening the bill is paid by a company or grant. The decision is made before we go to the event. Usage doesn't really depend upon familiarity of the system in our case. Until April 1997, we had to draw a venous sample to do the Lipid panel tests. Now with the fingerstick test we have attracted a few more participants but I can't say for sure why. I am impressed with the accuracy of the product. We process blind samples for accuracy and always do well on those tests in an inndependent lab. So, now tell me, how do you assess the viability of a product? Can you just read about it, without actually seeing or using it, and make an assumption regarding its viability? Interesting notion.... With continued thanks to "MKC" for sharing.. dlo
