TT,

So you wont go long unless you have puts in place ? How about go long and have a mental stop ? or just keep trading them as they bounce around until they get to the consolidation level to initiate investment long ?

TT,

<<BTW, I agree with your friend re CPQ and the point to short the stock --I'll look to buy puts just before that level.>>

Well, CPQ performed true to form - I didn't short it - busy trying to figure out how CSCO option symbols after split - sold deep in money call to protect my shares down to 70 (47 after split) Gut feel CSCO might miss.
Oh, Schwab's system said I dont own underlying and wont let me sell the calls (not approved for naked at Schwab - need to fix it) so I wound up did it with Brown as naked call. Stupid Schwab system probably not recognize the new CYZ root effective today with 150 shares per contract. I need to get my Schwab account fixed to have level 3 approval.

Have you bought protective puts on CPQ on its spike to 59ish for potential long ? the spike lasted probably 3 minutes.
