Bush also knew the importance in needing the Russians, Chinese and French concerning Iraq's nuclear program.
I used to think he didn't care about protecting his administration as well.

One thing, it is really hard to cut through the media bias. It is really a big difference between Bush & Obama, though -- Obama's first reaction is to try to silence any media that happens to oppose anything he does. Bush just didn't seem to care, when it came down to it.

Bush couldn't say anything to the media because he usually had a pretzel stuck in his throat.
