I have used silver based ointment on diabetic foot wounds. Turns out I am allergic to silver. The best dressing for wound care is Sorbact, which absorbs bacteria. When they are absorbed, they cannot reproduce. Expensive, but it works. Buy a big piece, cut it down to size, and cover with bandages to keep it in place. You can get it online, or at a store which specializes in stuff for broken people.

I am becoming all too familiar with stores which specialize in stuff for broken people.

Just looked up Sorbact on Amazon. It doesn't seem to have many ratings. It is a five star product, but probably most people don't need it. If you have a tendency to wounds which get infected and won't heal, try it.

Silver is relatively safe. However, its effectiveness is somewhat dubious.
