This is the 29th season of Survivor. How many times has a black man won the million?

I really don't know. Maybe once?

Even if it's more that still puts the odds low which is why I said that. Who was voted out first this season? Jeremy's wife. Who was voted out (i believe) third? Natalie's sister. Where they there long enough to know "the interplay of social relationships among players and the perceived self-interest of individuals resulted in the vote "?

In most seasons the usual setup is 18 players with 2 to 4 being black. You may not want to call it racism but in this situation the blacks stand little chance of winning. Different set of white players and different blacks but same results. Maybe they don't realize they are doing that or look at it in that light but it doesn't change the outcome.

I recall one season that only had 2 or 4 white players. Big surprise. They didn't make to the final three either. Were the blacks and Asians racist too? Maybe it's just the nature of people. I wonder what the ratings were for that season? My guess is the target audience is white so that if the ratings fell they knew not to have that mix again.

A few seasons ago I went back and look at previous winners. At that time the split between male and female winners was about 50/50. That would show no gender bias, but it always starts out with half male and females players. Someone should do a college paper on Survivor now that the sample size is this large.

But to your question"Do you suppose that people vote counter to their own perceived self-interest in order to hold back blacks? " No, I don't think it's that as much as it may be they want to be around someone they feel more comfortable with.

Why do you think the outcomes in Survivor are what they are?
