As recently as last winter.

"It just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger."
until the 2014 melt season began. Then it got smaller and smaller until the 2014 freeze began.Right now,however, a small portion is melting, in the middle of their very long night. Looks like it might have even increased since yesterday.

NE Greenland and top of da world is hot today. A few days ago, temp 80 miles from the pole was 33 degrees F.... in the dark.
