To all:

I've notice David Carlson of Carlson On-line is posting on SI and he seems to be a wealth of information ... a few of the sites I have posted of late I have noticed as a result of his posts.

It might be a good idea to peoplemark him

Rick, I think the discrepancy between RC & DD may be much greater than generally anticipated. I base this on two observations.

1)The table "Weighted Average Elements by Drilling Period" (last annual report) shows the BHP & 93,94PFG drill results between 50% & 100% higher than the 96 Barrick & 97 Barrick results. At first blush the answer would seem to lay with Barrick extending the limits & size of the resource into areas that are lower grade. Another take is possible. All the BHP & 93/94PFG drilling was done Diamond Drill, while almost 90% of subsequent drilling is RC by Barrick.

2)Until Barrick comes through with the 12 DD's that twin earlier RC holes we will be guessing as to the RC/DD effect but, let me offer three holes as an example of what the possible effect may be. Three holes all in same general area (two of which may actually cross)

--------------width---- Au g/t------Ag g/t
RC 97-56------ 88m ---- 1.19 -----193.5
BHP 45(DD)---- 108m ---- 2.9 ------250
DD 93-1------- 100m ---- 4.9 ------884

The factors for both gold & silver could be as high as 2x-3x. Even the width of the deposit may be understated since lower grades leads to quicker cutoffs.

Oh well I guess Munk knows...but he's not telling.
