Re: Crosses... Crosses can be of any size ( 50, 100, 200, 500 thousand or 1, 2, 3 million shares etc.) and the "Buyer" and "Seller" are the same.

What went on today... That is hard to tell at this time of year!!!

Hope this helps.

Yes-- crosses are when the same brokerage house buys and sells, and in this case, in large block sizes of 100K shares plus.

It's usually indicative of something-- often involving institutional buying/selling. What exactly one can read from it is a mystery to me. Large crosses can be pre-cursors to market activity (trading/ positioning based on privileged information). And then not, as well! There's always some reason, of course. Perhaps price manipulation is at work (e.g., jitney).

You need to ask yourself,
Why?
Who's behind the buying, the selling?
What does the positioning indicate?
Does someone know something that I don't, be it impending news, etc.?

In this case, perhaps a shuffle/ purchase prior to the 1998 re-heating of this play; perhaps a street rumour of news or a discovery; perhaps only bland offseason positioning . . . .

ANY other contributions to what large crosses can sometimes mean, in any circumstance, much less this one? :)

Kaiser said in his last bfTracker (Dec.11) that he wouldn't be surprised to see the K14C mini-bulk results before Christmas-- the DMS processing is complete but further reduction of the olivine-rich concentrate was necessary, for picking out the diamonds by hand.
JK offers his belief that the 14C results in and of themselves have been discounted by the market as less meaningful, since 14C is considered a phase of the complex K14 body, and thus would have less of an impact.

Kaiser also mentions a little behind the scenes brouhaha over surprises in the results of K6 mini-bulk, though at this point only hearsay.

Cheers,
