<< MS told
Compaq that if Compaq put Netscape Navigator on Compaq computers, then MS
would not sell Windows 95 to Compaq >>

Please reread the agreement. MS just requires Compaq to put IE4.0. Compaq can choose, IN ADDITION, to put anything else they want including, but not limited to, Netscape, Lotus, warrior, chess, oracle or anything else.

IE4.0 License is free just as Netscape is free. at least till they decide they no longer want to license it free. then they can just ask you to pay for it or stop using it. Who knows, if MS cant add it to their Windows, they might just decide to charge for it. Then Netscape follows suit or vice versa. Will you then ask DOJ to file a suit for collusion to charge the customer??

Keep the lawyers out of it. If netscape is a good product, and by the way it is far superior to IE4.0 in speed in operation. I see no problem for Netscape to get consumers to use their product. And it might also be an incentive for them to further improve their product thereby benefiting consumers whom antitrust laws claim to benefit.
