That explains it. I've been gone for a while and haven't kept up with people's personal lives.

From my personal experience, living away from home on business away from friends and family is a young person's game.

Even when I was in my twenties I would sometimes get off a plane for the third time that day and be tired enough that I didn't know what city I was in or why I was there. Usually it would come back to me as I walked to the baggage/exit, usually.

Our EVP once called his secretary and asked if she knew why he was in Dallas, and she said "I don't know Bob, it's not on your calendar." Once you're at that point it's best to check into a hotel and reschedule the next day, as you're obviously too tired to be of much use to anyone.

When I was 29 I was delighted to have a job where I lived only six blocks from my office in Century City and just sat enjoying the view all day, traveling only as far as it took us to walk to lunch.
