The idea that rights come from God was a sop to Cerberus. Jefferson for instance, re-wrote “god’s word" called the New Testament because he knew it was NOT god’s word. Jefferson epitomises the pragmatic (yet thoughtful) attitude of the Fathers. All of them permitted the phrase “Nature’s God”—a phrase taking the burden of rebellion off of their shoulders and giving their treason a mysterious and Divine backing in a very superstitious and religious world. If they had not invoked a higher power ('Nature's God')--they would have failed and would all have been hanged for treason.

Once again! Would you be comfortable with a MAYOR who said, “If they don’t like an Islamic theme, if they don’t like an Islamist parade – stay at home.”??

Or are we mistaken that you were very very comfortable with a mayor who (according to Brumar) declared that,

“If they don’t like a Christian theme, if they don’t like a Christian parade – stay at home.”??"

You’re shooting off your mouth about the Constitutuion, yet you keep opposing the separation of church and state. HELLO??

Would you be comfortable with a MAYOR who said, “If they don’t like an Islamic theme, if they don’t like an Islamist parade – stay at home.”??

Answer like a man! Or evade. like a Weasel! Your choice!!

The whole point of the American Revolution was to create a society where tyrants could not use Divine authority to impose their will on the people. In order to successfully usher in the humanist laws of the rights of man, they needed to use the same pretense to a higher authority that tyrants everywhere had used throughout time.

Many of the Founding Fathers were religious in the sense that Einstein was religious. They found their ignorance awesome--as all thoughtful people do. The main man (Mr. Jefferson) re-wrote the New Testament--because he knew they were NOT God's words--but the words of men. He knew this superstition would flourish for some time to come and he wanted to remove the uncivilised portions (he removed most of it), and leave what was fitting for a nation where people counted...and where iexorable laws protected that civilization from decay.
