Kirk,

Do you think that Bogle sees as a game changer the huge drop in oil prices and that USA no longer needs to import oil thanks to our shale production?

I would think that one could argue that previous transfers to Saudi Arabia /Iran etc. as payment for oil contained a subsidy to the extent that Saudis overpriced the oil and that subsidy goes away. Perhaps Bogle is seeing some kind of adverse economic impact from this development.

Re: International Equity Allocation

I currently have about 10% exposure to international equities. I believe that's a little lower than the recommendation of companies like T.Rowe Price, Schwab, Vanguard, etc.

I recognize that it may be a little irrational, but I've always been a little low on international stocks because I feel that my investment benefits the companies in which I invest and I want to benefit the "local guys."

Best wishes,

I2

Here's another gem video clip interivew of John Bogle spouting off about international investing. He makes the strong point that most American companies have a large international exposure on their books. I know from person experience (Texaco 22 years) that they have professional traders hedging their foreign currency and commodity exposure. Heaven knows, most investors do not have the knowledge to do that.
