Yes that's my point --- plenty of 166MHz Intel MMX's in $999 advts.

IT means they might have done what CPQ requested of them --- skew the MMX production toward the low end. Saving the high end for the PII's.

In terms of retail stores, what is advertised is almost irrelevant; what counts is what people walk out with. The purpose of the advertising is primarily to get people into the stores, at which point they may buy a different product from that which was advertised.
