JJB - you may want to ask questions about trading practice on NASDAQ to this gentleman Christopher Smith (http://www.exchange2000.com/~wsapi/investor/personalprofile-4304853). He is a NASDAQ market maker and has a thread on SI called "From the Trading Desk". He seems to be an honest guy and I think he will give you straight answers to your questions.
