Colorado MEDtech Inc. to produce Fresh Air Product for Vencor Inc.

BusinessWire, Tuesday, December 30, 1997 at 10:10

BOULDER, Colo.--(BW HealthWire)--Dec. 30, 1997--Colorado MEDtech Inc. (NASDAQ:CMED), a Boulder, Colo.-based medical products and services company, today announced that it has received an initial order from Vencor Inc. (NYSE:VC) to produce 15 oxygen generation systems.

The initial production order is valued at approximately $2.6 million and deliveries will be in 1998. The oxygen generation system, called Fresh Air(TM), is a CMED proprietary product that converts air from the atmosphere into high-grade oxygen. The system is designed to produce oxygen for ambulatory and stationary patient use in nursing homes and other healthcare facilities.

"The Fresh Air product is another example of the benefits of our
close working relationship in developing and manufacturing products
for use in Vencor facilities," said John V. Atanasoff, president and
CEO of CMED. "In addition to Vencor, we believe the product has
commercial application to a broad segment of the nursing home and
other healthcare markets."

Vencor, which owns approximately 34% of CMED, is a $3 billion
long-term health care company that owns and operates a national
network of hospitals, nursing centers and provides contract services
in 46 states. "We believe the Fresh Air product will enable us to
significantly lower our cost of oxygen use," said Michael R. Barr,
chief operating officer, executive vice president and director of
Vencor.

Colorado MEDtech Inc., through its wholly owned affiliates and
operating divisions, is a leading full-service provider of advanced
medical products and comprehensive outsourcing services.
